Dove Peanut Butter Silky Smooth Milk Chocolate Bars are traditional delicious Mars company Dove milk chocolate filled with an unidentified peanut butter that is super salty. Why is the peanut butter so salty? To balance with the sweetness of the Dove chocolate, of course! The peanut butter is super smooth, just like the chocolate that blankets it. There are 5 squares of chocolate per candy bar, and it’s a pretty thin candy bar, so you might want to eat two of these tasty bars at a time.

Dove Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate is also available in a bag of individual squares for your enjoyment. Definitely more dangerous than a bar if you’re not great at moderating your sweets intake.

Friday Forward: Lean Cuisine Spring Rolls

Looking for a healthy snack is tough sometimes, but I think I might have found one. Lean Cuisine has a new line of spring rolls. I adore spring rolls, but they’re generally not so good for you, so the idea that Lean Cuisine is bringing a healthier, 200-calorie version to my mouth makes me a happy snacker.

Three yummy flavors are available:

Garlic Chicken
Thai-Style Chicken
Fajita-Style Chicken

When I find these in my freezer section I will try them and get back to you on taste. Have you tried them already? Tell me what you think!

Doritos 3rd Degree Burn Scorchin’ Habanero

I love spicy food. The hotter the better! Or, so I thought. I cannot even eat an entire Doritos 3rd Degree Burn Scorchin’ Habanero tortilla chip without my throat burning so bad I’d rather have strep throat than that pain.

My favorite flavors of Doritos all have “spicy” in the name, but these ones warn you how spicy they are by their color alone: They are fire engine red. The ingredients list gives no indication of what specific spices are providing the heat. Not even habanero itself is listed in the ingredients. This bothers me to no end.

This tortilla chip probably qualifies as the equivalent to hot sauce. Please don’t feed it to your kids as punishment, you might end up in jail.

Doritos, you have disappointed me.

Kim’s Magic Pop

Kim’s Magic Pop is a fat free, low calorie popped cake made from brown rice, corn, and wheat. Each Pop is only 15 calories, despite being the size of a whole tortilla. The company was started in Korea and now has offices and distribution centers in 40 countries throughout the world.

Magic Pop‘s consistency is slick and crunchy like that of a shrimp toast you might have consumed at a Chinese food establishment. It comes in a wide variety of flavors, including shrimp. We have tried plain and onion varieties. The onion variety is a bit too strong in its onioniness. The plain are pretty much tasteless, perfect for toppers such as butter or Nutella Hazelnut Spread, or butter AND Nutella! MMMMM!

Definitely worth a try. The full-sized Pops are pretty massive and could be used to make a delicate sandwich, but Kim’s also offers many other products including Mini Pops.

The fun fact about this product is that Kim’s Magic Pop is made with table top Magic Pop machines at your local grocery store, or you can buy your tabletop Magic Pop machine to make fresh Pops! (Photo courtesy of Alibaba.com)

Dove Milk Chocolate Silky Smooth Promises are bite-sized milk chocolate treats. The chocolate is perfectly sweet without being too sweet, and has a silky rich texture without being too rich. It’s fantastically wonderful and I cannot say enough to convey how delicious it is.

Is this chocolate from Switzerland? From Belgium? From Germany? Nope. It’s a Mars product from New Jersey. Who knew the best chocolate in the world came from Hackettstown?

Stacy’s® Italian Harvest Pita Chips

Stacy’s Italian Harvest Pita Chips is a new flavor of the delicious all-natural twice baked wheat pita chip offered to the world.This 0g Trans Fat snack’s flavoring comes from rosemary and red bell pepper, as well as several other delicious spices. It’s slightly heavy handed on the rosemary, but the more pita chips you eat the more addicted you become to that fragrant rosemary taste in your mouth. Surprisingly, it’s not the red bell pepper that I taste underneath the rosemary on this chip but instead pieces of black pepper that leave a spicy zing on my tongue. I love it!

Stacy’s Italian Harvest Pita Chips are delicious right out of the bag, but will be great served with hummus, a yogurt based dip, or even smeared with cream cheese! Definitely a winning flavor.

The only major downfall of this snack is that it is super crunchy, so the crunch is loud to by-standers but also you might want to be careful if you have any type of tooth problem where crunching on hard snacks might worsen your condition. Otherwise, a yummy homerun! Thanks, Frito-Lay!

Coconut M&M’s

Coconut M&M’s are a fairly new flavor of the famous Mars candy. They are brown, green and white only, instead of the rainbow of colors of original M&M’s. They have regular M&M’s candy coating but inside is a morsel of chocolate flavored with a delicious burst of coconut! It’s hard to hype up this product because the name of it explains exactly what it is, but this is perhaps now my second favorite flavor of M&M’s out of all of them, with traditional peanut M&M’s holding the top spot in my heart.

The coconut flavoring is so strong that it tastes like you’re eating fresh coconut! A look at the ingredients list of Coconut M&M’s compared to original M&M’s shows the same names used, which means the coconut taste comes from artificial flavors manufactured in a lab. Sad panda face.

If you want actual coconut flavor from the actual coconut fruit, this is not the product for you. But if you want a melts in your mouth, not in your hand snack that tastes like you’re on a tropical island, I highly recommend Coconut M&M’s.

Snickers Peanut Butter Squared

A few weeks back I had a dream about a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that had caramel, peanuts, and nougat from a Snickers bar in it. The other day I was waiting to pay for an item at the store and saw Snickers Peanut Butter Squared. It’s a Snickers “bar” with peanut butter in it, the reverse of my dream. Shoulda known my idea was already thought of before.

There are two squares inside each package of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared, so you can share one of the squares, eat them both, or save the second square for later. The packaging even encourages you to twist it closed so you can keep that second square fresh for snacking on later.

The taste of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared is like an original Twix bar plus a peanut Twix bar, but without the cookie crunch of either. I love peanut butter Twix, so that’s a plus. The one thing I wish wasn’t in Snickers Peanut Butter Squared is its ever-present nougat. I am not a nougat fan, it tastes like unnecessary filler to me. I know it helps fill you up, but the taste behind it does nothing for me.

Snickers Peanut Butter Squared definitely hits the snack spot, definitely worth a try, and definitely worth carrying with you for those times when you’re starving but no meal is in sight.

Trident Splash Peppermint Swirl

I tried Trident Splash Peppermint Swirl on a whim, an impulse purchase on my way to an appointment. I had little hope for this gum. I didn’t understand how some blue liquid sandwiched in a crunchy shelled piece of gum was going to deliver the same yummy flavor of a peppermint candy, but when I tried the gum it tasted exactly like a peppermint candy — not too minty, not too sweet, just right.

And because it’s a Trident product, Peppermint Swirl is sugar free so there’s none of that sugar coated teeth feeling from eating the actual candy. Also because it’s Trident, if you chew it after eating it helps to clean your teeth.

Each piece of Trident Splash Peppermint Swirl is less than 5 calories, perfect for when you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to binge on junk food. Plus my breath is minty fresh and I have yet to chew this gum long enough for the flavor to go away or for the gum to lose its elasticity.

Cheez-It Hot & Spicy Baked Snack Mix

Cheez-It Extra Hot & Spicy Baked Snack Mix is a Sunshine product with Tabasco Green Jalapeno Pepper Sauce to deliver the heat. The snack mix contains Cheez-It crackers, a traditional hard pretzel, and traditional stick pretzel, a baked pumpernickel round cracker, and a crunchy cheese bite similar in texture to a Cheeto.

The Cheez-It was sufficiently hot and spicy and delicious. I actually ran out and bought Tabasco Green Jalapeno Pepper Sauce after trying this snack because I enjoyed its kick so much. The crunchy cheese puff included was lacking pretty much any flavor at all, and made no sense to me in the mix. Why have an inferior cheese flavored bite in your snack mix? Also, why two pretzels? The pretzels were yummy, but they weren’t seasoned with the Tabasco so they didn’t add to the hot and spiciness of the mix. The bread slice had a little of the spice coating them so were more delicious than the other added carbohydrates, but still not delicious.

This snack fell flat as a whole, but the actual Cheez-Its were delicious, so I recommend instead of buying the snack mix that you just buy the Cheez-It Hot & Spicy Baked Snack Crackers instead.

Cheez-It Extra Hot & Spicy Baked Snack Mix deserves points for being baked instead of fried. And the Cheez-It Hot & Spicy Baked Snack Crackers themselves deserve 5 buckets. I think Amazon agrees with my assessment, considering they don’t even sell the snack mix, but do sell the Cheez-It alone!
