They are brown, green and white only, instead of the rainbow of colors of original M&M’s. They have regular M&M’s candy coating but inside is a morsel of chocolate flavored with a delicious burst of coconut! It’s hard to hype up this product because the name of it explains exactly what it is, but this is perhaps now my second favorite flavor of M&M’s out of all of them, with traditional peanut M&M’s holding the top spot in my heart.

The coconut flavoring is so strong that it tastes like you’re eating fresh coconut! A look at the ingredients list of Coconut M&M’s compared to original M&M’s shows the same names used, which means the coconut taste comes from artificial flavors manufactured in a lab. Sad panda face.

If you want actual coconut flavor from the actual coconut fruit, this is not the product for you. But if you want a melts in your mouth, not in your hand snack that tastes like you’re on a tropical island, I highly recommend Coconut M&M’s.

There are two squares inside each package of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared, so you can share one of the squares, eat them both, or save the second square for later. The packaging even encourages you to twist it closed so you can keep that second square fresh for snacking on later.

The taste of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared is like an original Twix bar plus a peanut Twix bar, but without the cookie crunch of either. I love peanut butter Twix, so that’s a plus. The one thing I wish wasn’t in Snickers Peanut Butter Squared is its ever-present nougat. I am not a nougat fan, it tastes like unnecessary filler to me. I know it helps fill you up, but the taste behind it does nothing for me.

Snickers Peanut Butter Squared definitely hits the snack spot, definitely worth a try, and definitely worth carrying with you for those times when you’re starving but no meal is in sight.

And because it’s a Trident product, Peppermint Swirl is sugar free so there’s none of that sugar coated teeth feeling from eating the actual candy. Also because it’s Trident, if you chew it after eating it helps to clean your teeth.

Each piece of Trident Splash Peppermint Swirl is less than 5 calories, perfect for when you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to binge on junk food. Plus my breath is minty fresh and I have yet to chew this gum long enough for the flavor to go away or for the gum to lose its elasticity.

Drink my favorite hot chocolate, Land O Lakes Mint Cocoa, while chewing this gum. A perfect mint pairing!

Brach’s Maple Nut Goodies have a hard, stale texture. Part of the strange texture is a result of the gelatin used to solidify the cluster. The snack doesn’t taste much like maple, peanut, or toffee. The peanut isn’t a whole nut, it’s small pieces, so it’s hard to taste them.

Also, Maple Nut Goodies have a ton of allergens in them: milk, egg, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, and soy. And, in case you missed the mention, there is gelatin in this product so it’s not vegetarian-friendly, since gelatin is made from animal bone and skin collagen.

There is nothing goodie about Brach’s Maple Nut Goodies. Very unsatisfying.

The dark chocolate Callebaut Couverture Callets™ have 56% cacao so they’re not too bitterly dark but also not too light and sweet. These morsels are the perfect bite, and they’re made of Belgian chocolate so they’re silky smooth and melt like butter in your mouth — soooo good.

I bought two packages of the Callebaut Couverture Callets™. The first one Popcorn and I ate on the couch while watching TV, but he plans to use the second package to bake some phenomenal chocolate chip cookies!

A little Johnny Depp in Chocolat would be a perfect pairing.

The sugar shells are in a variety of pastel colors, with tiny purple speckles on the eggs to give them a robin’s egg appearance. If your hands are warm at all the sugar shell will very quickly dissolve in your hand, so be prepared to lick some sugar off your palm if you decide to hold onto them for any length of time. (Extra treat!)

Cadbury Mini Eggs are only sold during the Western Easter holiday, so it’s a good idea to stock up as soon as you see them in stores. If you participate in Lent and choose to give up chocolate just remember that Sundays are your feast days so you can totally eat these eggs on Sundays! Yay, you!

Risky Business is the perfect movie to watch while you snack on this treat. It’s always fun to bite into these eggs while you watch Joel dive through the air to catch his mom’s Fabergé egg!

The candy itself is a simple marshmallow shaped like a chick and coated with colored sugar. While the granular coating provides a course initial texture, beneath is the familiar soft white squishiness of marshmallow that reveals itself as the sugar dissolves on your tongue. The taste is not really original or spectacular. It is uber-sweet and squishy, and marshmallow fans will enjoy it, but in the end it is a sugar coated marshmallow.

However their celebrity as a candy has resulted in a number of uses besides consumption, including what is called Peep Jousting. The basic premise is to lick the right side of two Peeps and stick a toothpick “lance” to its side. Then place both Peeps into your microwave facing each other, turn it on, and the winner is the Peep who does not explode or become deflated. I can think of no other candy that has been forced to fight its own for consumption. Nor can I think of any candy whose fans are crazed enough to think of such a concept.

Hence, while the candy is simple and plain, it has had enough power to inspire a culture around it and therefore I’m giving it around 2 buckets more than I normally would.

The movie to watch while swallowing those little yellow chicks by the handful is Chicken Run! We can let the Peeps hope before placing them into the microwave arena of death… can’t we?

Unfortunately, over the years the raisins in Raisinets are found more often than not to be dehydrated and lacking any sign of juice. This transforms the candy from a moist chocolaty treat to a chewy one. Sadly, while Raisinets continues to be the premiere choice in movie theaters, there are fresher brands of chocolate covered raisins out there. If the lesser known brands can make a moist chocolaty treat, then why can’t the premiere choice?

Popcorn’s Rating:

For a snack that is older than some dirt and has probably lost its juicy flair, we recommend the classic version of A Raisin in the Sun with Sidney Poitier. At least you’ll get some satisfaction from the screen if you end up dissatisfied with what was in the box.
